Just Living in Paradise: Ten Days at Constance Halaveli Maldives
Just a 35-minute seaplane flight from Malé, Constance Halaveli was our home for ten magical days in January 2025. One of two Constance resorts in the Maldives, Halaveli is set on a curved island in the North Ari Atoll, offering over 50 overwater villas and 30 beach villas, including a Presidential Villa with its own kitchen and bar.
Our accommodation was a luxurious overwater villa, and our plan was simple: eat, sleep, and relax. Mission accomplished.
If you are thinking about visiting Constance Halaveli and have questions, or any questions about visiting the Maldives then please do leave me a question in the comments.
The Overwater Villas
Connected by one of the Maldives’ longest walkways, the overwater villas are arranged facing either southward (overlooking the open lagoon) or northward (with views of the lagoon and resort). Our south-facing villa was one of the largest we’ve stayed in, combining thoughtful design with understated luxury.
Entry to the villa led to a spacious bathroom with an almond-shaped bath, a monsoon shower, and double sinks. A highlight for us was the walk-in wardrobes—one each—perfect for managing our luggage and keeping everything organised.
Beyond the bathroom, large glass doors opened onto a generous deck with a plunge pool, sunbathing area, and steps leading directly into the lagoon for snorkeling.
Inside, the bedroom was vast, featuring a supremely comfortable king-sized bed, a seating area with a table, and a well-stocked mini bar (most items complimentary on the all-inclusive package). Modern amenities like Apple TV, fast Wi-Fi, and a coffee machine added to the convenience, letting us feel both connected and completely removed from the world.
Eating & Drinking at Constance Halaveli
The resort features three restaurants and two bars, each offering its own distinct ambiance. The main Jahaz Restaurant is spacious enough to seat a few hundred guests, with indoor and outdoor options on the terrace or beach. The menu changes daily, featuring themed dinners such as Asian Night and Indian Ocean Night, both of which became our favourites.
The upscale Jing Restaurant is perched over the water, offering a more formal dining experience. Highlights included dishes like the Lobster Bisque Shot with delicate wontons, showcasing culinary artistry alongside stunning views. We dined here twice, enjoying the sunset as sharks swam lazily beneath the deck.
Both bars are linked to the restaurants but can be visited independently. The larger Jahaz Bar was perfect for morning coffee or an afternoon sundowner, with beautiful views of the sandy beach stretching towards the villas. While the menu included plenty of seafood, vegetarian options were less obvious, although the chefs were always accommodating.
The Constance Spa
Located over the water, the Spa by Sisley comprises a series of treatment rooms where your massage table comes with a view—a glass floor lets you watch fish swim by during your treatment.
In my experience, hotel massages can be relaxing but often lack depth. At Halaveli, the therapists were exceptional, working out my knots and leaving me feeling rejuvenated (and a little sore) in the best way. Post-massage, unwinding with a view of the lagoon made the experience even more memorable.
Water Sports & Snorkelling
We chose Constance Halaveli for its house reef, with no plans to venture further afield. The reef offered plenty to explore, but the real highlight was the wildlife visible from our deck. Baby sharks swam near the shore alongside needlefish and unicorn fish. From the Dive Centre deck, we spotted eagle rays, and in the evenings, the resident ray—affectionately named Michelle—would glide past the shore. Standing in the water as she swam by was an exhilarating experience and a true highlight of our stay.
While the resort offered trips to better snorkeling spots and manta ray encounters, there was no hard sell. Other water sports included jet skis and a jet rocket, but we opted for the more relaxed paddleboarding, which we plan to explore further on future visits.
It’s the People That Made This Holiday
More than the villas, location, or food, it was the service that made this holiday exceptional. At a five-star Maldives resort, good service is expected, but Halaveli went above and beyond. Every staff member greeted us warmly, asked how we were doing, and went out of their way to ensure our happiness.
We try to remember the names of those who make our holidays special, but this time, the list was extensive. From Jay, who cleaned our pool, to Anna and Gasim in the restaurant, every interaction felt personal. The chefs—including Head Pastry Chef Tapas (“Born to Bake”) and Head Chef at Jing, Atul—were ever-present and happy to chat, even connecting with us on Instagram. We’ll always remember discussing Polish bands with Max, who manages most of Food & Beverage.
On our final night, our dinner table was decorated with the message “See You Soon,” and the same words greeted us on our bed. In the morning, it was repeated once more. While this might be a company mantra, it felt genuine—a reflection of the team’s warmth and professionalism, led by the General Manager, Tangi.
Final Reflections – Ten Days in Maldives Paradise
While every Maldives holiday is special, our time at Constance Halaveli felt truly unique. As I sit writing this by a log fire on a cold, grey UK day, my thoughts return to those hot, peaceful moments on the deck, watching Michelle glide by. The only question now is, when can we go again?
